Background of our POA

The South African Technical and Vocational Education and Training Student Association (SATVETSA) is a structure that represents the interests of the students across all TVET Colleges around the country as envisaged in the Continued Education and Training Act of 2016 as amended. The Association has governing responsibilities in respect of student affairs and may advise the DHET and College Authorities on all issues including institutional policies and affairs affecting students within the TVET Sector.

This plan of action outlines and supports the vision, mission, and strategic priorities of the sector and programs of the Student Governance as designed by the department. The work plans, strategic objectives, indicators, and targets of the association are best designed to advocate for the governance and development of all students’ communities and structures (SRCs) within institutions. Key areas of work emerging from this include coordination of conferences, capacity-building workshops, entertainment programs, and social cohesion programs.

It assumes equivalent planning and annual review process which serves as a tool to measure the impact made by the association to the TVET community. The strategic objectives and targets of the association which are the products of a robust transformational agenda have been designed to ensure alignment of the priorities and enforcing learning outcomes through extracurricular activities.

There are specific events for entertainment that will bring about recreation social cohesion and the spirit of companionship for the student body at large. The events will be educational and some will be aimed at motivating students in relation to their social life in general and academic life in particular.

Successful people universally understand the need to acquire and retain limited resources. However, the critical difference between achieving our goals and failing to meet them is always good planning. Without a guiding strategic plan, it is easy to become entangled in unnecessary activities and red tape, wasting valuable resources in the process.

In support of the vision, mission, and strategic goals of the department, the association will embark on the undermentioned programs as part of the attainment and contribution to the department’s strategic goals

Let us tackle this together for the sake of those whom we serve.
